6.      Colliding bodies

 

You focus on the stars and the dust

that we can’t see but makes everything around us;

the core and the magma and the earth.

 

We migrate along rivers and mountains

and streams and absorb the salt and scratch the sand

 

forming reservoirs that collect our past.

 

We expand infinitely and contract indefinitely

coring through space and time and

always finding us.

 

You are my Earth where I root to grow and bloom,

despite our massive tectonic events where the entire foundation of the ground beneath our feet

 

shifts, folds, compacts, melts, extrudes

 

and we ride the lava flow

between moments of cooling and rest.
